Tire Testing Policy:
East Lincoln Speedway does not allow tire softening of any kind. This rule has been in place since the 2009 season & will continue to be enforced going forward. The only change in 2010 has been the implementation of a more accurate testing procedure that includes the use of laboratory testing.
The independent lab that is used to test tire samples from East Lincoln is the same lab that is used by the World of Outlaws, UMP, and other major dirt track sanctioning bodies & racetracks throughout the United States.
East Lincoln Speedway began sending samples in for lab testing near the beginning of the 2010 season. In addition to the 13 tires samples taken & tested so far in 2010 from East Lincoln Speedway competitors, the racetrack also tested a sample from a brand new Good Year tire around the start of the 2010 season to develop a baseline for all further tests. Over the past 3 months, the racetrack has invested a significant amount of both time & money to develop a reliable & accurate way to test competitor’s tires.
Recently a tire sample from an East Lincoln Speedway competitor came back positive for tire softening agents. This was the first tire sample of the season that varied dramatically from the baseline Good Year tire sample developed earlier in the year. Additionally, the offending competitor’s tire sample varied significantly from the other competitor tire samples that were taken & tested from the same race event.
Considering that this was the first test sample to test positive for tire softening elements, we offered to run the test a second time with a different sample from the same tire. Once again, the tire tested positive for tire softening elements. In addition to the second test, East Lincoln Speedway also paid an additional $200 to run a more detailed test to identify the specific substances that were in the competitor’s tire. The additional test identified foreign substances that have the effect of softening a tire. This confirmed that there was not a false positive on the original tire sample of the offending competitor.
Upon receiving results from the second test, the competitor was notified of the second tire sample testing positive for tire softening elements & given two alternative penalties which are clearly stated below.
