Aug 09, 2009 - Peters Captures Micro-Sprint Madness Win

STANLEY, NC (August 8) – Ronnie White capped off a wild night of racing action with an impromptu victory in the Steele Rubber Products Limited Sportsman feature.

As the green flag waved White darted into the lead with Kris Dunlap in hot pursuit. Dunlap grabbed the point on lap five but White was not done. White hounded Dunlap for the race lead as the duo ran door to door through the mid-stages of the event. Dunlap’s hopes of a win were lost when he slowed with mechanical problems.

With White’s main competitor out of the event he streaked away from the field as the green flag replaced the yellow, but disaster struck three laps later when Brian Hickman spun in turn three. With no where to go White and second place runner Chris Stowe slid into Hickman. White was forced to the pits to make repairs before returning to the rear of the field.

On the restart Stowe’s car did not come up to speed as the field jumbled off turn two. White jumped to the outside and grabbed the race lead by passing six cars on the backstretch. White cruised over the final two laps to collect his third victory in a row.

Michael Benfield had his best run of the year to finish second with Blaine Huffman third, Keith Bowman fourth and Tom Salony fifth.

In the $500 to win Micro-Sprint  Madness special it was Concord, NC’s Terry Peters leading wire to wire to post the win. Jonathan Hager was second with Hickory, NC’s Brian Roseman third, Wertz, VA racer Robert Clements fourth and Rick Gross fifth.

Kyle Strickler made all the right moves to post the Open Wheel Modified victory. Danny Bohn rallied late to collect second over Ryan Ayers, Everette Dunlap and Matt Emmerling.

Tony Palladino survived a wild Advance Auto Parts Stock Four feature to claim another feature win. Pechi Fioramini was second with Randy Powell third, Jennings  Herman fourth and Sparky King.

Steve ‘SteveO’ Newsome received the traditional ‘roll in the mud’ following his first career CV Products Renegade win. He outlasted a wild top five that consisted of; Todd Bolin, Justin Mauney, Tracy Tapley and Chris Stowe.

A.J. Palladino joined his father Tony as winning drivers Saturday night as he posted the victory in the Bea’s Gift Basket Rookie Four main event. Kenny Willet, Dylan O’Daniel, Hank Keifer and Lee Oiler rounded out the top five.

Saturday Night August 15th and Late Models return for ‘Round Two of City Chevrolet Hot Summer Nights’ presented by Bea’s Gift Baskets.  Gates open at 5:00 with racing at 7:30. General admission is just $12 with pit admission $20.
