STANLEY, NC (September 4) – Terry Brooks Jr, really likes East Lincoln Speedway. Making his third career start at the 3/8 mile oval, Brooks captured one of the biggest wins of the season as he led the final 19 laps to post the $1,000 win in the 5th Annual Dave Watts Memorial presented by TJ’s Motorsports Warehouse Saturday night.
Brooks and Lucia, NC’s Jeff Graves shared the front row for the start of the main event. Graves grabbed the early lead with Brooks all over him. The duo raced door to door for the lead until lap six when Brooks was finally able to clear the veteran racer. Once out front he raced the final laps unchallenged for the victory. Point leader Ronnie White rallied from mid-pack to take second. Graves charged from the rear of the field after he was involved in a lap 8 spin to take third with Kris Dunlap fourth and Keith Dunlap fifth.
Nick Hoffman charged by early leader Matt Emmerling to post the Open Wheel Modified win. Emmerling ended up second with point leader Danny Bohn third. Maunel Johnson took fourth with Jeff Leonard fifth.
Terry Peters scored an emotional Micro-Sprint victory for car owner Steve McElroy. Second through fifth went to; Robert Clements, Darren Hasty, Frank Peters and Chad Craig.
David Lucas held Jamie Major at bay to post the Advance Auto Parts Stock Four win. Pechi Fiormanti was third with Brian Nuhfer fourth and Darryl Roark fifth.
In the Bea’s Gift Basket Rookie Four main event it was York, SC’s Jeff Crump capturing his fifth checkered flag of the season. Last week’s winner Lee Oiler was second with Kenny Willet fourth, Silas Reynolds fifth and Hank Keifer fifth.
59 year old Jimmy ‘the kid’ Heath scored his first career CV Products Renegade victory. Second through fifth went to; Michael Bennett, Todd Bolin, Brian Toler and Chris Stowe.
This Saturday night September 11th East Lincoln Speedway presents Crime Stoppers of Lincoln County Night. Advance Auto Parts Stock Four and Bea’s Gift Basket Rookie Four drivers will compete for double first place money. Gates open at 5:00 with racing at 7:30.
