East Lincoln Speedway Results 4-17-2010 – Strickler, Webb & White win again
It was a night of Micro Sprint Madness and repeat winners Saturday at East Lincoln Speedway. During intermission, fans were treated to the first ever race-off between the husband and wife team of Ray Evernham and Erin Crocker Evernham. James Reed and Tyler Kinnetz were the two lucky ride-along winners. The two raced their two-seater microsprint cars to a photo finish and fans voted that Erin Crocker Evernham was the victor.
In Stock Fours, pole sitter Randy Powell looked like the driver to beat until the 77 of A.J. Paladino went for the outside pass along the front stretch and the two made contact. Powell’s car spun into the inside wall resulting in an early end to the evening for the 88. With four laps down, Paladino grabbed the top spot followed by Lee Oiler, Hank Kiefer and Jeff Crump. Dylan O’Daniel, starting at the back of the pack, worked his way up to the fifth position. The caution came out at the half-way point as the 48-L of Luke Rogers got into the inside wall down the front stretch. Another caution had Rogers enduring a hard lick in a similar spot. The race ended on a green-white-checkered as Paladino held off a late front stretch surge on the outside by Oiler to get the win. “This is the hardest driving I’ve ever done,” said Paladino in victory lane.
Micro Sprint Madness featured 17 cars vying for the top spot in the 20-lapper. Last year’s ELS points champion, Robert Clements was in the house all the way from Wertz, VA. He plans to be back for more races this year due to the depth of competion at the track. The 111 car of Terri Peters, winner at ELS two-weeks running, lined up alongside the 9 of Rick Goss. Peters jumped to the lead but lap one had the 12 and 9 hooking together on the front stretch as they slowed to avoid the first caution. Track officials disengaged the two and Goss was able to continue. He followed on the heels of Peters for three laps when the caution came out again with a bunch-up on turn four. Peters held onto the lead as cautions came out three more times with the 5 car of Jeremy Graham ending his night flipping down the front stretch. The time limit expired and the race ended on a green-white-checkered. Peters held the lead as the next three positions switched up down the backstretch on the final lap. Peters crossed the line in first but was disqualified in post-race inspection. The victory was awarded to Coby Adams with Mike Dicely taking second, Rick Goss third, Tony Clements fourth, and Jackie Ziegler fifth.
The hotly competitive Open Wheel Modifieds division had Nick Hoffman jumping to the lead. The caution came out with Danny Bohn spinning in turns three and four and several cars getting turned around. Hoffman took the lead on the restart with Kyle Strickler close behind. After another caution on lap six, Strickler jumped to the inside and made the pass on Hoffman. The cars made contact with Hoffman crashing off turn two and the damage finishing him for the night. More cautions brought the starting field of 16 down to 9 and the race came to a green-white-checkered finish. Strickler got his second win of the year finishing ahead of other front row starter Everette Dunlap.
The Super Stock Fours feature showed the fans at ELS a dominating performance by Brad Williams. He led from the onset, followed by last week’s runnerup Josh Cook. Cautions came out after laps three and seven with Williams still in the lead. Williams held on for the win over Josh Cook who roared to a second place finish passing cars on the final lap “This feels good. I want to thank my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. And I want to thank all the people, like the Nuhfers, who help me out,” said Williams.
17 Limited Sportsman put on another great show. Last week’s winner Brandon White charged to the front, followed by Jonathan Jennings and Lynn Mercer. White kept the lead through three early cautions. With five laps down, Ronnie White took the car to the pits and Mercer took the second spot from Jennings. The top three were followed by Jeff Parsons and Chris Stowe. Stowe went to the pits as the leaders worked lap traffic and Ronnie White rejoined the hunt. With two laps to go Brandon White still held the lead with Mercer closing. The green-white-checkered finish had Brandon White claiming his second season victory followed by Mercer, Jennings, Ronnie White and Jeff Parsons.
The Renegades feature had Aaron Webb driving the dominate car for the second week in a row. Steve Newsome gave chase in his orange machine and kept the car under control despite tagging the outside wall down the backstretch on lap two. The first caution came out on lap three and the second one as the g1s of Anthony Cable slowed down the front stretch with five laps complete. Another green-white checkered finish had Webb capturing his second win in a row with Newsome following in second, Woody in third, Adam Vandiver in fourth and Brian Toler in fifth. “We had good restarts and the cautions kept us up front,” said Webb, who is in the points lead running his first full-season of Renegades at the track.
